I Built the App I Needed the Most as a Student — Introducing TutoFind
Learning web Development and sharing my learnings with the community.
As a student—and later as a private tutor during my college days—I always felt the absence of something important.
Not just a tool. Not just an app.
A bridge.
Let me explain.
🎓 The Problem I Faced as a Student
Back in my school days, I used to attend tuition classes from one of the most popular teachers in town.
Sounds great, right?
Not really.
These teachers typically handled 50–100 students in a single batch, charged higher fees, and focused more on completing the syllabus than on individual understanding.
As a mediocre student, I struggled.
I didn’t get personal attention
My doubts often remained unsolved
Learning felt more like following than understanding
And the biggest problem?
I didn’t know how to find a teacher who matched my learning style and budget.
💼 The Problem I Faced as a Tutor
Fast forward to my college days.
I started teaching students to earn some pocket money. And that’s when I faced the other side of the same problem.
Where do I find students?
How do I prove that I’m a good teacher?
How do students trust someone new?
I realised something important:
I could be the teacher I always wanted as a student.
Someone who:
Teaches in a personalised way
Charges a pocket-friendly fee
Actually cares about student progress
But there was still one issue…
There was no proper way to connect students and tutors like this.
💡 The Idea Behind TutoFind
That’s how TutoFind was born.
A simple idea:
Create a platform where students can find the right tutor—and tutors can find the right students.
🚀 What TutoFind Does
TutoFind is designed to solve the exact problems I faced.
👨🏫 For Teachers:
Create a profile
Post what you want to teach
Add details like subject, fees, and location
🎓 For Students:
Search tutors based on subject and location
Chat directly with tutors
Check reviews from other students before deciding
It’s all about making the process transparent, accessible, and personalized.
🛠 Tech Stack
I built this app using:
React Native CLI — for building the mobile app
Supabase — for backend and database
⚠️ Current State of the App
Let me be honest.
The UI is not perfect
There are still some bugs
A few features are yet to be implemented
But still…
I couldn’t resist sharing it.
Because this project is not just about code.
It’s about solving a problem I personally experienced.
💰 What About Monetization?
Yes, TutoFind has multiple ways it could be monetized and turned into a business.
But right now:
I’m not focused on building a startup
I don’t have the budget for promotion
So for now, I’m treating this as a learning project—something that helped me grow as a developer and thinker.
📌 Final Thoughts
Sometimes, the best ideas don’t come from brainstorming.
They come from personal frustration.
TutoFind is exactly that.
A solution I wish existed when I needed it the most.
